Xinyi NIU is a cognitive neuroscience researcher with a background in psychology and cognitive science from the School of Psychological and Cognitive Sciences at Peking University. Her research focuses on the temporal dynamics of visual processing, with particular interest in how eccentricity-dependent differences across the visual field and attentional mechanisms shape temporal order perception and the temporal structure of perceptual experience. She is also interested in neuroaesthetics, investigating how perceptual and attentional processes contribute to aesthetic experiences across different artistic traditions, including East Asian and Western painting. To uncover the cognitive and neural mechanisms linking visual perception and behavior, she combines behavioral experiments and psychophysics with eye tracking, EEG, fMRI, and computational modeling.
